A study done in 1999 that attributed 280,000 deaths to obesity (Allison et al.).

 

 

Mokdad, Ali H., et al. "Actual Causes of Death in the United States, 2000." Journal of the American Medical Association 291 (2004): 1238-45. 

A study supported by the CDC claimed 400,000 would die of overweight and obesity, a number later found to be in error (Mokdad et al.)

A study produced in 2006 states that a small incident of overweight led to a higher incidence of death (Adams et al.).
